Susan Rosand, Painter

Susan and Robert have been collaborating on painting wood turned items for a number of years now. Susan got her start in painting with tole painting and ceramics. That background in painting led her to embellishing some of Robert’s turned pieces. Now most of her work involves oil painting on wood turned items. Among her most popular painted pieces are Christmas tree ornaments painted with a country scene or with holly. She also paints country scenes on plates and platters that have been turned by Robert. Natural edged platters with fall leaves are among the more dramatic paintings that she creates. Lately, she has begun using “crackle paint” to decorate the rims of her platters and plates prior to painting.

Susan is a retired teacher and is now an avid bicyclist. If she is not painting or if the weather in Pennsylvania is good, you can usually find her on her bicycle riding the back roads of Pennsylvania. She and Robert have traveled to France and Italy to ride in Tuscany and to view the Tour de France.
